Detail Information

Upper Mustang, is a mystical and divine place wheres sages and tantrist have found peace and solidarity to practice tantrism which can be seen lively in the 2500 years old caves and various paintings showing Buddha's life and Tibetan Buddhism, clay pots and utensils indicating the fact that Mustang was in fact the centre of meditation and practicing Tantrism. The legend of Mustang goes back to Guru Rimpoche when he slain down a demon who had been plaguing Mustang after a rigorous fight over the mountains and hills of Mustang, of course at last, Guru Rimpoche prevailed. The landmarks in Mustang are filled with a distinctive red color stressing that those were the blood marks of the demon after he was slain by Guru Rimpoche. The longest Mani walls built atop the intestines of the demon were scattered after its defeat by the people of Mustang.

The trail passes through these sites where tantrism were practiced, landmarks with the blood spots of the demon and Lo Gekar, the oldest monastery of all Tibetan in the world.
